Hormones. So many people are afraid to talk about them. Of course, I have no idea who these people are because most of my friends and I discuss hormones daily. I am 40 years old. I am having serious hormonal fluctuations. My doctor says that I am too young to be experiencing the symptoms I describe. Well, I am having hot flashes, sleep problems, nausea, skin dryness, MAJOR mood swings (ask my husband), and many other things are going on. But sure, I am too young. Tell that to my body, lady. By the way, I am getting a new doc.
These little hormone assholes are really pissing me off! I feel like hell and it is only the beginning! What is happening here?? I do not want to start taking hormone supplements just yet because I think that too many bad things come from starting hormones at a young age. My opinion. I am looking into other options but in the mean time, I am so annoyed! I just want to wake up and FEEL GOOD, is that too much to ask?
Men have it so easy. They have NO idea! They don't have to deal with gut wrenching cramps starting at the age of 11 or 12 and continuing FOREVER. Not to mention the bleeding every month. They think it is gross and would prefer not to think about it. Well hell yeah! So would I, sweetheart!!! Then, if we are lucky, we get pregnant. Talk about hormones! Nearly 10 months of crazy hormones followed by about 2 years of ups and downs. Throw in a little sleep deprivation, no time at all for yourself, no time for ANYTHING really, and many other things and you wonder why we are crazy??? You try it for a minute and let me know how you would feel, buddy!! You couldn't handle it for a second. You stub your toe, have one night of bad sleep or feel a little grumpy because it has been 2 hours since your last meal and all HELL breaks loose so SPARE ME. Bite my crazy ass.
Look, I love being a woman. I am thankful to be a woman. I love that I was able to be pregnant and have a child. I also love the strength that comes from being a woman. Damn right we are strong! No one else could do what we do and that is the truth, honey! But....Is this what I have to look forward to? Is this the calm before the storm of - gulp- menopause? If it is, I need the people in my life to buckle up, give me a break and pour me some wine because darlings, mama is going to need a lot of it!
I would love to hear from you if you are experiencing symptoms of perimenopause or have any helpful tips that have worked for you. No judgement, please. Thanks!!
